From our full line of tuned-length & long tube performance headers to our matching high-flow mid pipes and Varitune cat-back systems, BBK performance exhaust products offer state of the art quality with unmatched performance gains. Since 1988 all BBK high performance exhaust products have been designed & built in the USA using only the best premium materials and manufacturing techniques.

Starting in the late nineteen eighties, our BBK engineering team began developing direct fit performance headers for the then all-new fuel injected 5.0L Ford Mustang. Wanting to have these parts to be easy for the DIYer, we knew they had to be bolt-on design that would not require any other modifications for installation. They also had to be ultra-durable and designed for everyday use along with trips to the track.

Read More...With features such as fully mandrel-bent heavy wall tubing for maximum flow and 3/8" thick laser cut flanges for a perfect long-lasting seal, these new “Shorty” headers not only met all quality goals but also performed better than expected on the new breed of fuel-injected vehicles coming out of Detroit. Shortly after the first BBK headers for the Mustang applications, our team began designing versions for a variety of popular Ford, Chevy and Dodge applications. This would include the Mustang, Corvette, Camaro/Firebird, Ford F-Series, Chevy Silverado, GMC Sierra, Dodge Ram and various Jeep models.

 

Soon these first direct fit “Shorty” & “Tuned-Length” performance headers were complimented with a variety of new “longtube” performance headers - all of which were engineered with matching bolt-on high flow catted mid pipes for serious horsepower gains while meeting emissions standards in most states. Keeping in tradition of BBK’s high-quality standards, each longtube design featured the same proven mandrel bent high flow tubing and 3/8” thick flanges for a perfect fitment and maximum performance.

 

In the early 2000s faced with increased demand from our growing dealer network, our engineers finished off the complete exhaust system with a variety of high-performance axle back systems featuring our proven high quality design and construction for a variety of makes and models. Today these systems are available for many Ford, Dodge, GM, Jeep and Ram applications - including the Mustang, Challenger/Charger, Camaro, Corvette, F-Series, Silverado/Sierra, Ram and Jeep Wrangler/Cherokee. In order to meet demands for both street and track use while keeping things affordable for enthusiasts, our engineers added our patented “Vari-Tune” fully tunable performance muffler design which is now standard on our axle back systems as well as muffler only upgrades. Featuring a unique internal power valve, enthusiasts can fully adjust both sound and power levels in a matter of minutes with a twist of a wrench.

How do headers and exhaust upgrades work?

 

Being a big air pump, gasoline engines produce horsepower and torque by converting energy from the combustion cycle into power. The more efficient this process can be made along with the least restriction, the result is increased power and efficiency levels. As OEM exhaust systems are designed to keep costs down, such features as restrictive cast iron manifolds and stamp-formed exhaust tubing result in a lot of unwanted and power robbing restrictions within the factory exhaust. By utilizing such modern manufacturing techniques as fully CNC mandrel-bent tubing on all headers, mid-pipes and axle back systems, BBK performance exhaust products are designed to increase flow which results in significant power increases. On many versions of such models as the Ford Mustang, Dodge Challenger/Charger and Chevy Camaro/Corvette models, it’s not uncommon to see gains of up to 50 horsepower with our BBK performance exhaust products.
How much power can I expect?

 

Depending on the specific model of your car or truck, horsepower and torque gains will vary. However, on a typical V8 model it's common to see 8-15 rear wheel horsepower with “Shorty” and “Tuned-Length” design headers and as much as 30 rear wheel horsepower with “longtube” versions. On supercharged and turbocharged applications, performance levels are normally the highest as these high-flowing motors love to see increased flow in either the exhaust or intake tract. Horsepower and torque gains can also be increased even further with the addition of a custom tune which maximizes overall performance of any upgrades.

 

Will I need a tune with my headers or exhaust upgrades?

 

As noted in the prior section, a custom tune will result in further performance increases as overall the fuel and ignition curves can be adjusted resulting in the best overall performance – especially if your running certain fuel mixes or high-octane gasoline. However, no BBK performance header or exhaust upgrade requires a tune and will work excellent with the stock calibration as well. Literally hundreds of hours of engineering - including in-house dyno-testing goes into each of our BBK products to ensure everything will work as designed for everyday use.

 

Will BBK headers or exhaust upgrades reduce fuel economy?

 

The internal combustion engine is a big air pump designed to get air into and out of the motor in the most efficient manner. BBK headers & exhaust upgrades will in most cases slightly improve fuel economy depending on how restrictive the factory exhaust manifold or exhaust system is. As you will see with our line of “CNC-Series” performance headers, the goal is to design a header which has improved flow over stock but also balanced flow. In simple terms, the more even each header tube can be to each other then the better the overall efficiency and potential performance increase. With that in mind, it also boils down to how bad the original parts are designed from a flow standpoint as even on our “Shorty” style headers. Substantial power gains are still seen as the factory manifolds perform so badly. Depending on packaging parameters, our engineers always try to strike the best balance between performance and longevity and will use tube diameters and other means to also get the most out of each BBK performance exhaust upgrade.

 

How do BBK headers and exhaust upgrades compare to other brands?

 

Since our founding in 1988, BBK’s main objective is to design and produce performance upgrades that can always be installed by the typical enthusiast, perform as good and better in many cases to the competition, and do so with longevity in mind as we design most of our products for daily street use. We do offer various race only products – however overall, this is a small part of our overall product line. Recently we invested heavily in a new coatings division that allowed us to bring high temp ceramic finishes to the masses. Now all standard BBK headers are coated with our unique 1800 degree titanium ceramic finish with a polished silver ceramic available as an option. Depending on the application and budget range for a typical application. We also offer 304 stainless steel construction on many of our performance header applications.

 

What type of warranty do I get with BBK headers and exhaust products?
